J. Crew: Men's Shop

J. Crew just opened a Men's Shop on Madison Avenue and 79th Street. The entire store is covered in knotty pine panels and moldings that make it smell a little manly and outdoorsy. Occupying what was formerly a bank, the store walls and floors are made of reclaimed barn boards from Pennsylvania. This rough feel, combined with discovered elements like the bank's vault, make for a rustic yet urban environment.

J.Crew's suits are surrounded by an extensive collection of brands the company has partnered with through its In Good Company collaboration program. Select items -- some vintage -- are available, including Crockett & Jones shoes, Thomas Mason shirts, Swaine Adeney Brigg accessories, Alden shoes, and Imogene & Willie jeans.

The In Good Company program "allows us to not be so serious and mix in the vintage finds, like books and outerwear," Muytjens explains. "It is curated to make our guy's life easier. It's a one-stop destination -- you can find umbrellas, suiting, outerwear, denim. You can go crazy here and leave with an entire wardrobe."
