Our Trip to Prague

Hello! Here are a few photos from our trip to Prague. Prague ... was ... awesome. I was completely surprised by Prague. Maybe its because I didn't really know what to expect? Either way, Prague was a party. The Charles Bridge was so impressive, more than that, the views were breathtaking.

One of the highlights of the trip was dinner at Hergetova Cihelna (Web site here). The restaurant is tucked underground and opens up right on the water. There are magnificent views of the bridge and the city. We sat outside, enjoyed a bottle of wine watching the boats go by. We even saw fireworks going off on the river. It was a very special place.

The Prague Astronomical Clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the only one still working.

The astronomical dial has a background that represents the standing Earth and Sky, and surrounding it operate four main moving components: the zodiacal ring (illustrating what zodiac the Sun is currently in), an outer rotating ring (telling time), an icon representing the Sun (coinciding with the time of Sunset), and an icon representing the Moon (tracking the speed and orbit of the Moon).

There is also a presentation of statues of the Apostles at the doorways above the clock, with all twelve presented every hour.

Impressive.
