Christmas in New York

As I walk the streets of New York, I feel gratitude
I wrap my scarf tightly around my neck
and listen quietly to the hum of the city
I see my cold breath in the air,
but I feel warm
I hear people laughing
and the Salvation Army bells ringing
Holiday is in full effect
Evergreens are for sale on the street corner
Twinkling lights cascade down each building
Wreaths have been hung with diligent precision
The temperature begins to drop
and the slightest bit of snow starts to fall
But Christmas encircles the city like a warm blanket,
weaving an intoxicating spell
I feel it's magic
I think of everyone I love
and I feel blessed
