Snow + Faux

I love the use of faux throws in these interiors. They not only add texture, but a sense of warmth and luxury. If you were to remove the throws from any of these photos, the rooms would have a different feeling entirely. Pick your pun...friend or faux...faux or faux pas...what a difference a faux makes...mo' faux...faux finish...

Hooray for More Holiday

I think this cuff from Anthropologie makes a great accessory and would be incredibly easy to make...maybe a nice addition to a New Years ensemble. A bracelet, some pretty wired ribbon, a jeweled bobble and voila a festive cuff!

Hooray for the New Year!

Happy Christmas

To me this traveler looks weary, tattered and torn from a long journey home. But he's made it, gifts in hand and spirit intact. He's greeted by a warm embrace and the excitement of friends and family...and if you listen close, you can hear a sigh of relief...home.

May you be filled with the love and hope that Christmas brings. Happy happy happy Christmas!

A Christmas Eve Tradition

Mistletoe white and holly red,
The day is over, we're off to bed,
Tired body and sleepy head,
Mistletoe white and holly red.

Let it Snow!

Although we weren't completely snowed in this weekend (like much of the east coast), it was still the perfect winter weather for staying in and cuddling up in front of the fireplace. With fireplaces like these, who wouldn't want a snow day every once and a while?

Christmas Greetings

Christmas cards are starting to arrive more and more each day and I love it. I love saving old cards to see how people and families grow and change from year to year. Christmas cards saved from loved ones no longer with us are some of my most prized possessions.
With the decline in the economy and many cheap alternatives available to printed cards, it somehow makes holding a treasured card from a loved one that much more special.

There's an old Christmas card in an old dusty trunk
And it brings back sweet memories dear to me.

Though it's faded and worn, it's as precious as the morn
When I found it 'neath our first Christmas tree.

I thrill with every word, every line
I guess I'm always sentimental around this time.

Pardon me if a tear falls among my Christmas cheer
It's the memory of an old Christmas card.

Christmas + The Breakers Hotel

Last year we shared Christmas Brunch at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. It is hard to come by a brunch more memorable than Christmas Brunch at The Breakers. Crab legs, steak, caviar, shrimp, roast beef, any cheese you can think of, any omelet item you can think of, and enough mimosa to make your head spin. Pasta bar, oatmeal bar, bread bar, Belgian waffles, did you see where that lady got the smoked salmon? Yeah, did you see the sourdough shaped like Santa?

Most impressive was the desert table. The head pastry chef greeted you at the table, a proud parent of the most beautiful confections you've ever seen. A full staff worked around the clock for a week to create the detailed holiday themed treats. The attention to detail and color and theme to each individual desert was amazing...not to mention the sheer volume of choices.

The Hotel is beautifully dressed for the holiday with lush garland, wreaths, and giant Christmas trees at every turn.

If you are in Palm Beach, the Breakers Hotel is a must see.
